Our house is situated in the Bas-Vivarais, amidst the vineyards, close to the natural site of the Ardèche gorges. Le Couradou (literally translated means "covered terrace supported by arches") is an impressive mas, standing alone on the limestone rocks, just at the edge of the village. With a 360° panoramic view, we are surrounded by the endless landscape of the Ardeche, the Gard and the Cevenne mountains. A XVth century mas, it was once a silkworm farm, but over the years has been restored and transformed into a beautiful house, yet still keeping its authentic character. |
The charm of the old original features has been perfectly combined with modern comfort. Antique furniture, soft colour combinations and unique decoration create a cosy and charming atmosphere. From Le Couradou it is just a 10-minute walk to our village, Labastide de Virac. With only 200 inhabitants it has remained a quaint and quiet village with its own castle (Chateau des Roures). Labastide de Virac is only 8 kilometers from Barjac (department Gard) and Vallon Pont d'Arc (Ardèche), making it the ideal place from where to discover the beauty of this region. |
